“You lack orientation” — Ikpe Ekong slams Chrisantus Uche for racism claim
By Monsurah Olatunji
Former Nigeria international Prince Ikpe Ekong has attributed Chrisantus Uche’s criticisms of officiating in La Liga to a lack of orientation.
Uche, who joined the club this summer from third-tier AD Ceuta FC, had raised concerns about the treatment he faced in La Liga.
In the past, players have been banned for criticising referees, with cases in the last couple of years including those of Jose Gaya and Sergio Canales, Uche maybe another.
Although it is yet to be seen whether the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) pick up on Uche’s remarks, Ikpe has sent words of enlightenment for the player.
“Orientation is very important. He has forgotten that referees are under FIFA, and any referee who makes mistakes can be controlled and penalized,” he stated via Footballlive.
“Does he think Getafe is an Enugu or Anambra team to compare the situation in Spain?
“He needs good advice. As a professional, he must learn how to communicate effectively.”
