Russian Cup: Emmanuel Favour on target as Lokomotiv Moscow gain advantage

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria midfielder, Emmanuel Favour inspired her Russian side, Lokomotiv Moscow, to a 2-0 win in the first leg of the 2024 Russian Women’s Cup semi-final.

The former Bayelsa Queens star scored the first goal of the encounter in the 42nd minute of play to put her side in an advantageous position going into the second half.

Five minutes into the second half, Brazilian player Laissa Nascimento Santos doubled the lead for the visitors.

Favour continued her scoring form after finding the back of the net in the previous 3-1 league game over Dynamo Moscow.

Her goal against Chertanovo put Lokomotiv Moscow in a comfortable state ahead of the return leg on September 7.

The winner of the two two-legged semi-final aggregate will face either Francesca Ordega’s CSKA Moscow or Krasnodar in the final match.

Favor remained the sole Nigerian player at Lokomotiv Moscow after the departure of Macleans Chinonyerem after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
