NPFL: Heartland target double over Abia Warriors in Oriental Derby

By Wale Mustapha

Heartland FC are focused on completing a double over their eastern rivals, Abia Warriors, as they prepare for their Matchday 30 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash on Sunday.

Having defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the Naze Millionaires now aim to replicate that success at home when the two teams meet again at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Heartland have called on their supporters to pack the stadium for the highly anticipated encounter.

“It’s another Oriental derby against our neighbours, Abia Warriors.” the club said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“We beat Umuchineke Boys for the first time in Umuahia earlier this season. Can we get a double win for the first time over them?”

The match is set to kick off at 4 p.m. on Sunday, with Heartland hoping to extend their impressive form and secure another crucial victory in the NPFL.
