By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Nationwide season has officially wrapped up, with four exceptional teams earning promotion to the NWFL Championship for the upcoming 2026 season.

Dreamstar Ladies of Lagos sealed an immediate and triumphant return to the second tier as Group A winners, while Rangers Women of Enugu joined them after making history by securing promotion in their debut campaign.

In Group B, Solo Wonders FC of Akwa Ibom emerged as champions following an impressive run, with Rosaria Victrix of Imo State also advancing as runners-up — both achieving promotion in their maiden appearances in the third-tier competition.

The quartet — Dreamstar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders FC, and Rosaria Victrix — have all earned their spots among Nigeria’s emerging forces in women’s football, finishing in the top two of their respective groups to seal promotion to the 2026 NWFL Championship.

Reflecting on the successful conclusion of the 2025 NWFL season, which encompassed the Premiership, Championship, and Nationwide divisions, Modupe Shabi, Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, expressed satisfaction with the league’s overall progress.

“This 2025 season has been a remarkable journey for the NWFL. From the Premiership through the Championship to the Nationwide, we have witnessed great football, renewed competitiveness, and inspiring stories of resilience and growth across the country,” Shabi said.

She also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for its continued support of women’s football and the strengthening of the league structure nationwide.

“We owe immense gratitude to the NFF President and his board for their backing and vision, which continue to inspire the growth of the women’s game. Our appreciation also goes to the various hosts, clubs, administrators, state FAs, match officials, and the media — every stakeholder who contributed to the success of this season,” she added.

Shabi further revealed that preparations are already underway to ensure an early kickoff for the 2025/26 NWFL season, with promises of new innovations and a more competitive league structure aimed at sustaining the momentum and excitement across all tiers.

The successful completion of the 2025 NWFL season reaffirms the league’s commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and development, as women’s football in Nigeria continues to grow in stature and impact across the nation.
