FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos set to face Italy in Round of 16

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team will battle Italy in the Round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos finished third in Group D with three points to secure one of the best third-placed spots in the knockout stage.
Bankole Olowokere’s girls lost their opening two matches against Canada and France but bounced back in style with a commanding 4-0 victory over Samoa to keep their campaign alive.
Italy, meanwhile, have been in impressive form, topping Group A with a perfect record of nine points ahead of Brazil (4), hosts Morocco (3), and Costa Rica (1).
The Europeans netted 10 goals and conceded four across their group fixtures, while Nigeria scored five and conceded five.
The highly anticipated Round of 16 clash between Nigeria and Italy is scheduled for Monday, October 28, with kick-off set for 8:00 p.m. (Nigerian time).
