Hull City close to £30m deal for Millwall forward Femi Azeez

Hull City are close to signing Millwall and Super Eagles forward Femi Azeez as they prepare for their return to the Premier League, with the newly promoted club willing to match Millwall’s reported £30m valuation.

The 25-year-old has attracted interest from several leading clubs after an outstanding 2025-26 campaign in the EFL Championship. Azeez scored 11 league goals and supplied seven assists as Millwall finished third, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of the season.

His performances also earned him a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season, strengthening his reputation and prompting interest ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

According to The Sun, Hull City have now made Azeez one of their principal attacking targets and are close to completing a move for the Nigeria international. The Tigers are looking to add quality to their squad after securing promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2017.

Hull achieved promotion after overcoming Middlesbrough in the play-off final, having previously beaten Millwall’s promotion rivals in the semi-finals. Coventry City won the Championship, with Ipswich Town finishing second.

Millwall’s own hopes of reaching the Premier League ended after they lost to Hull City. Despite that disappointment, Azeez was among their most impressive players during a breakthrough season and remains under contract at the Championship club.

He has previously spoken of his ambition to play in the Premier League, and a move to Hull would offer him the chance to fulfil that objective following his strong campaign at Millwall.

Hull have increased their efforts to sign Azeez after missing out on other attacking options. Their attempt to bring in Leon Bailey from Aston Villa was unsuccessful, while Mohamed Ali Cho’s proposed transfer from French club Nice has stalled and may not go ahead.

Those setbacks have made Azeez a greater priority as Hull seek to strengthen their forward line before the new Premier League season begins. The club believe he would be an ideal addition to their squad and are prepared to meet Millwall’s asking price.

Millwall have already turned down an offer from Ipswich Town for Azeez because they are seeking a fee of about £30m. West Ham United and Aston Villa have also shown an interest in the forward.

However, Millwall are willing to sell if their valuation is met, meaning Hull could complete the transfer if they agree to the required fee. The major question is whether the Tigers will commit to the full £30m as they attempt to finalise their squad.

Hull have limited time to conclude negotiations. They begin their Premier League campaign away to Manchester United on 22 August, leaving the club under pressure to complete their pursuit of Azeez before the 2026-27 season gets under way.
