Chibuike Nwaiwu says family are happy in Turkey amid Trabzonspor speculation

Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu says he and his family are happy in Trabzon, despite reports suggesting he could leave Trabzonspor.

Nwaiwu has been linked with a move away from the Turkish club, but the defender says his immediate priority is to concentrate on his performances rather than speculation over his future.

Speaking to De MarkeSports, Nwaiwu acknowledged that he had seen the reports but said he remained focused on his football. He also pointed out that he still has a contract with Trabzonspor, meaning any decision about what happens next could involve the club.

“I saw the news you mentioned. But I want to focus on my football, on the game I’m playing. Besides, I already have an existing contract with Trabzonspor.

“What comes after that might also depend on the club’s decision.

“Actually, I wasn’t single last season. My wife was pregnant. This season, as you can see, my baby was born. We’re perfectly happy in Trabzon with my family.”

Nwaiwu’s comments come after reports raised questions about his future at Trabzonspor. Rather than discussing potential destinations or a possible transfer, the Nigeria international stressed the importance of maintaining his focus on matches and his responsibilities on the pitch.

The defender also offered a personal explanation for the circumstances surrounding his family life over the past two seasons. He said his wife was pregnant last season, while their baby has since been born during the current campaign.

According to Nwaiwu, the arrival of his child has not created any desire to leave Turkey. He said his family has settled happily in Trabzon and that they are content with their life there.

His existing contract remains an important factor in determining his future. While Nwaiwu did not rule out the possibility that circumstances could change, he indicated that any next step would also depend on Trabzonspor’s position.

For now, the defender is seeking to keep the focus on his football with the Turkish club. His remarks suggest that reports linking him with a departure have not changed his stated desire to concentrate on the matches he is playing.
