Chelsea linked with €30m Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor

Italy-Nigeria defender Honest Ahanor is being linked with a move from Atalanta to Chelsea, with the 18-year-old centre-back potentially moving from Serie A to the Premier League.

Ahanor is valued at €30m and remains under contract with Atalanta until 30 June 2028. The left-footed defender joined the Italian club from Genoa on 4 July 2025 in a transfer worth €16m.

He has yet to make an appearance for Atalanta in the current season, with the club having played one Serie A match and one Conference League qualifying fixture in the competitions recorded. His current statistics show no appearances, goals or assists.

Ahanor came through Genoa’s youth system and was part of the club’s Under-18 side that won the Italian Youth Championship in 2023-24. He moved into senior football with Genoa before joining Atalanta, who secured his signature at the start of the 2025-26 season.

The reported interest from Chelsea comes as Ahanor remains a contracted Atalanta player, with no indication in the available details that an agreement has been reached or that a transfer is close.
