Barcelona make major changes for La Liga meeting with Getafe

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made several changes to his starting line-up for Saturday’s La Liga match against Getafe at Spotify Camp Nou, including leaving Pau Cubarsi and Pedri on the bench.
The eighth-round fixture will see Joan Garcia return in goal, while Gabriel Jesus makes his first start for the club. Both decisions had been indicated by Flick during his pre-match news conference, but the German coach’s broader reshuffle was less widely expected.
Barcelona’s starting XI is: Joan Garcia; Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Gerard Martin, Espart; Rodri, Gavi; Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Gabriel Jesus and Gordon.
Cubarsi and Pedri are among the substitutes, with Flick opting for a different defensive and midfield combination for the visit of Getafe. The changes represent a relatively significant adjustment to the side named for the match at Spotify Camp Nou.
The Barcelona substitutes are Wojciech Szczesny, Dominik Livakovic, Joao Cancelo, Alejandro Balde, Brian Farinas, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, Pedri, Karim Adeyemi, Marc Bernal and Hamza Abdelkarim.
Flick had already confirmed some of the team news before the match, including Garcia’s return between the posts and Gabriel Jesus’ inclusion from the start. The final selection, however, also saw two established players in Cubarsi and Pedri moved to the bench.
Barcelona will be without Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong and Rony Bardghji for the game. Those absences have further shaped Flick’s options as his side faces Getafe in the eighth round of the league season.
The line-up was published by Barcelona on Saturday, 10 October 2026, shortly before the match.
