Kelechi Iheanacho’s record scoring run earns praise from Bursaspor coach Mustafa Er

Bursaspor coach Mustafa Er has praised Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigeria international scored in 10 successive league matches, setting a landmark in Turkish professional football.
Iheanacho has scored 14 goals during the run, which has established him as one of the leading performers in Turkey’s second division this season and made his start to life at Bursaspor a major talking point.
The 30-year-old joined the Turkish club in July 2026 after leaving Scottish champions Celtic. He helped Celtic win domestic honours during the 2025/26 season before choosing to continue his career in Turkey, despite reported interest from other clubs.
Bursaspor made a significant effort to secure the striker’s services and have been rewarded by his immediate impact in front of goal. His sustained scoring form has also made him one of the side’s most important attacking players.
Er has been impressed by Iheanacho’s consistency, with the forward continuing to score despite opponents having repeated opportunities to analyse his movement and adapt their defensive plans.
Scoring in 10 consecutive league appearances is a notable achievement in those circumstances. Iheanacho’s performances have highlighted the finishing quality and attacking instincts that established his reputation in English and Scottish football.
The striker has also remained involved with the Super Eagles. He scored against Russia during Nigeria’s international break in October, adding to the momentum created by his club performances.
That form gives Nigeria encouragement as the national team assesses its attacking options for upcoming assignments. Iheanacho’s goalscoring run has already made history, but attention will now focus on whether he can extend it and maintain his current rate of scoring.
For Bursaspor, keeping the forward fit and productive could be important as the club continues its pursuit of its objectives this season.
