Christy Ucheibe wins third consecutive Portuguese Liga BPI title with SL Benfica

Nigeria midfielder Christy Ucheibe celebrated her third consecutive Portuguese Liga BPI title with SL Benfica on Sunday.
Benfica’s domestic title triumph was guaranteed by a 2-0 win over Valadares Gaia in the Matchday 20 game, with two games to spare.
Lucia Catarina Sousa Alves opened the scoring for the Portuguese league holders in the 31st minute.
With a slim first half lead, Kika Nazareth sealed the victory for the visitors with her strike 14 minutes from time.
The away win sees SL Benfica open a 12-point gap over rivals Sporting Braga at the top of the table with 57 points after 20 games.
Having secured the title, Benfica will face Torreense on May 14 and end the season with a clash with Amora seven days later.
The latest title was Ucheibe’s third straight league diadem with SL Benfica since her first in the 2019/2020 season.
She previously played for Nasarawa Amazons in the 2018 season before joining Portuguese giants after her season-long spell in Sweden, on 14 February 2020, on a three-and-a-half years deal.
