Olashile Lawal Joins FC Midtjylland, Emulates Paul Onuachu’s Path from FC Ebedei

Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland have officially announced the signing of highly rated Nigerian striker Olashile Musa Lawal from partner academy FC Ebedei, continuing a long-standing pathway that has produced several successful talents.

Lawal’s move mirrors the journey taken by Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu, who also progressed from FC Ebedei to FC Midtjylland before establishing himself as one of the club’s most prolific attackers.

During his time in Denmark, Onuachu scored 74 goals and provided 24 assists in 181 appearances, earning a transfer to Belgian side Genk in 2019 after leaving a lasting legacy at the club.

At just 18 years old, Lawal arrives with a growing reputation as a physically imposing forward who combines strength with pace and technical quality. His versatility allows him to operate both as a traditional centre-forward and in other attacking roles.

Expressing his excitement after completing the transfer, the young Nigerian described the move as the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition.

“It means an incredible amount to me. Since I was little, I have dreamed of taking this very step – it is huge.

“I have a lot of goals for myself and I know this is a big step in the right direction for me. I want to help the team and show what I can do as part of the academy.

“I am really looking forward to becoming part of the team, and I look forward to developing as a player and learning from the others.”

Jonas Dal, Head of FCM Nigeria, also praised the teenager’s attributes, highlighting his adaptability in attack and his technical ability despite his physical presence.

According to Dal, Lawal is capable of playing as both a conventional No. 9 and a target man, while possessing excellent ball control, impressive technique and the qualities needed to thrive in European football.

With the move, Lawal becomes the latest Nigerian talent to take the FC Ebedei-to-FC Midtjylland pathway, hoping to emulate the success achieved by compatriot Paul Onuachu and establish himself in one of Denmark’s leading clubs.
