Edo Queens’ Atume Doosuur, Rivers Angels’ Abasiofon Uwah Share NWFL Top Scorer Award as Adegbuyi Wins MVP

Individual honours were presented at the end of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six, held in Port Harcourt, with standout performances across the season rewarded on Sunday.
Champions Edo Queens saw their striker Atume Doosuur finish as joint top scorer after netting 13 goals, sharing the Golden Boot with Rivers Angels forward Abasiofon Uwah. The duo remained one of the most consistent scorers from the regular season through the Super Six stage.
Hosts Rivers Angels also earned recognition off the pitch, picking up the Fair Play Award for their conduct throughout the competition.
In the goalkeeping category, Fatima Oloko of Abia Angels was named Goalkeeper of the Season after an impressive campaign marked by key saves and consistent performances.
The biggest individual honour went to FC Robo Queens teenager FC Robo Queens midfielder Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who was crowned Most Valuable Player of the Season.
Adegbuyi expressed surprise at the award, noting her team’s struggles during the Super Six despite a strong regular season.
“I didn’t expect the award because my team didn’t perform well at the Super Six after topping Group B during the regular season,” she said. “The Super Six is very tough. The defenders were really hard on me and I couldn’t express myself fully. It has been God and my teammates—they are the real support behind me.”
The season concluded on a positive note for players and officials in the NWFL Premiership, with attention now shifting to the upcoming Championship and Nationwide divisions.
