Ogun and Lagos State will meet in the final of the women’s football event of the 2023 National Youth Games after the conclusion of the semi-final pairings in Ogwashi-Uku on Tuesday.

The Gateway Girls from Ogun State defeated the Abia State 3-1 to book a place in the final of women’s football.

Adeyanju Damilola continued with her impressive goal-scoring as she bagged a brace, and Dosunmi Temitope’s lone goal was all that the girls needed to defeat the Aba-based girls.

Adeyanju scored a hat-trick in the quarter-final to seal a 5-0 win over Adamawa State.

Ogun State Head Coach, Adeniyi Adeyinka, applauded the effort of Ogun Football Association (FA) Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, for his efforts to give the girls the best preparation before the commencement of the games.

The team will face Lagos State in a South West derby final.

Lagos State beat Cross River State 2-0 to set up a final clash with Ogun State.

The final will take place on Friday at Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State.
