Real Madrid star, Eduardo Camavinga has thrown his weight behind his country of birth, Angola ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash against Nigeria in Abidjan.
Camavinga has deep roots in the country, despite his sporting allegiance to France as he was in a refugee camp in Angola 21 years ago. The midfielder has been keenly following Angola’s performance in the AFCON following his unique background, with Angolan and Congolese heritage.
Meanwhile, the Antelopes have had an impressive run in the tournament, remaining unbeaten and securing a spot in the last eight with a decisive 3-0 win against Namibia in the Round of 16.
Although Nigeria ranked 40th globally and 77 places above Angola, enters the match as the favourite, Camavinga would love to see his birthplace triumph.
Camavinga’s endorsement came in the form of liking a post on X that predicted a 2-0 win for Angola over Nigeria.
