Ajayi Expresses Delight Over Eagles Debut and Aspires for More Game Time

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, recently suffered a 2-0 defeat against Serbia in a friendly match. Despite the disappointing outcome, Al Ahly striker, Junior Ajayi, expressed his satisfaction at making his debut for the team. However, he remains eager to secure more playing time in order to validate his inclusion in the squad.

Ajayi, who previously played for CS Sfaxien, was given a brief opportunity to showcase his skills when he replaced Alex Iwobi in the dying minutes of the game. Speaking to CSN, the talented striker revealed his desire for additional game time, stating, “It was a dream come true, but I wished I had more time. Nevertheless, I will work tirelessly to earn another chance to play for the team.”

With several friendly matches scheduled before the highly anticipated World Cup, Ajayi remains optimistic about his chances of securing more playing time. Despite the unfavorable result against Serbia, the striker believes there are valuable lessons to be learned from the experience.

Reflecting on his time with the national team, Ajayi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to train alongside Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Ighalo. He acknowledged Ighalo’s willingness to share his expertise and revealed, “We learn every day, and I did pick up some valuable tips from Ighalo, who was incredibly supportive during our time in camp.”

The Super Eagles, under the guidance of coach Gernot Rohr, are preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Russia. As the team continues its training and friendly matches, the coaching staff will undoubtedly assess the performance of each player, including Ajayi, to determine the final squad for the tournament.
