Ajayi Overjoyed at Super Eagles Call-Up for Poland and Serbia Friendlies

Al Ahly’s prolific forward, Junior Ajayi, expresses his excitement at receiving his first call-up to the Super Eagles for the upcoming friendly matches against Poland and Serbia. The 22-year-old’s stellar performance in the Egyptian League, where he has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 23 appearances for Al Ahly this season, earned him the prestigious invitation.

Ajayi, formerly of Shooting Stars, has previously showcased his talent on the international stage as part of the U-23 Nigerian squad. He played a crucial role in winning the Africa U-23 title in Senegal in 2015 and securing a bronze medal in the football event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The Super Eagles, under the leadership of head coach Gernot Rohr, are gearing up for two crucial friendlies. They will face Poland on March 23rd in Warsaw, followed by a clash against Serbia four days later at the Hive Stadium in England.

Expressing his gratitude and eagerness to represent Nigeria at the senior level, Ajayi took to Twitter on Tuesday, stating, “With a grateful heart and total respect to the family of @NGSuperEagles and all #Nigerians, this invitation to our National Team is a dream come true 🙌. I will make you all proud by the grace of God.”

Football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the 25-man squad for the friendly matches, a decision expected from coach Gernot Rohr later this week.
