Al-Hilal target Al-Ahli striker Firas Al-Buraikan after Gulf 27 success

Al-Hilal are reportedly targeting Al-Ahli striker Firas Al-Buraikan as they continue their efforts to sign members of the Saudi Arabia national team.

The Saudi club are also pursuing Al-Shabab winger Hummam Al-Hammami, who impressed for Saudi Arabia at the Arab Gulf Cup “Gulf 27” and was named the tournament’s best player.

Saudi journalist Abdulaziz Al-Muraisel said Al-Hilal were working on deals for both players, claiming the club would be successful in completing the moves.

“Al-Hilal are working to sign Hummam Al-Hammami and Firas Al-Buraikan, and they will succeed in doing so,” Al-Muraisel said in comments to Nabd Tuwaiq.

He added that Al-Hilal would offer Al-Shabab a significant financial package for Al-Hammami, while Al-Buraikan could become available to join for free if Al-Ahli fail to resolve his contract situation.

“Al-Hilal will tempt Al-Shabab with money to sign Hummam Al-Hammami,” Al-Muraisel said. “As for Firas Al-Buraikan, he will enter the final six months of his contract, and if Al-Ahli do not address the situation, Al-Hilal will sign him for free.”

According to Transfermarkt, however, Al-Buraikan’s contract with Al-Ahli runs until the end of next season. That would mean he could not sign an agreement with another club until January 2028.

The 26-year-old forward was the leading scorer at Gulf 27 after scoring 3 goals. One of those goals came in Saudi Arabia’s 2-0 victory over United Arab Emirates in the final.

Al-Buraikan’s performances have also earned him a nomination for the 2026 Asian Player of the Year award. He is competing for the prize with Al-Hilal icon Salem Al-Dawsari.

The claims were reported by Nabd Tuwaiq on 21 October 2026, when Al-Muraisel said Al-Hilal were “working on Hummam Al-Hammami” and had also set their sights on Al-Buraikan, with the striker potentially available when he entered the final period of his contract.

The proposed moves would see Al-Hilal pursue two players who played prominent roles for Saudi Arabia during Gulf 27, while also attempting to strengthen their squad by adding a key forward from domestic rivals Al-Ahli.
