Kane strikes twice as Bayern Munich punish Arsenal after Timber handball

Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot to put Bayern Munich 2-1 ahead of Arsenal in their Champions League meeting at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
The England forward earned the penalty in the 60th minute when his shot was blocked by the hand of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber. The effort appeared to be heading towards the net before Timber intervened.
Kane took responsibility for the resulting spot-kick and sent David Raya the wrong way, finding the top-right corner of the Arsenal goalkeeper’s goal to give the German side the lead.
The penalty was Kane’s second goal involvement of the match. He had earlier set up Bayern’s equaliser with a precise pass to Alphonso Davies, who was playing in a more advanced role as a winger.
Arsenal had taken the lead in the 25th minute through Eberechi Eze. Martin Ødegaard found the England international with a long pass down the left, allowing Eze to race clear of Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer before finishing into the net.
Bayern responded 10 minutes later. Kane’s pass released Davies, and the Canada international cut inside before using his right foot to beat the visiting defence and goalkeeper.
Bayern began the third round of Champions League fixtures with four points, having beaten Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt and drawn with fellow Norwegian club Viking.
Arsenal had won both of their opening two matches in the competition, defeating Italian club Napoli and French side Lille.
The match was played at the Allianz Arena, with Kane’s penalty moving Bayern in front after the sides had traded goals in the opening half.
A clip shared by beIN SPORTS on 21 October 2026 described Kane’s contribution by saying: “He assisted the first and scores the second! Kane fires Bayern Munich into the lead from the penalty spot!”
