Al-Ittihad mock Joao Felix after victory over Al Nassr
Al-Ittihad mocked Joao Felix and Ange Postecoglou on social media after beating Al Nassr 2-1 in the Roshn Saudi League on Saturday.
The result came in the final match of round five and prompted a sarcastic response from Al-Ittihad’s official account on X, aimed at the Portugal forward and the Australian manager.
Felix had already attracted attention before the match with a striking comment to media representatives. Asked about the situation surrounding the league, he said: “I will not speak to you, because if I speak, I will expose what is happening in the league.”
After Al-Ittihad secured victory, the club published an edited image showing Postecoglou and Felix appearing extremely small. In the foreground, a person brought their index finger and thumb close together, suggesting that the Al Nassr pair looked insignificant from the perspective of Al-Ittihad.
The post was accompanied by the words: “From the perspective of The Dean”, followed by: “Dominance continues.”
The message referred to Al-Ittihad’s victory over Al Nassr in the latest Saudi Arabian classic. The club’s post included the hashtags associated with the fixture between the two sides.
Al-Ittihad’s win was considered surprising by some observers because the club has faced several difficulties during the current season. Those problems have included player departures, administrative issues and other challenges away from the pitch.
Despite those circumstances, Al-Ittihad produced the result that lifted them to 11 points from their opening five matches. They are fourth in the table.
Al Nassr remain second with 12 points, level with Al Qadsiah. The two clubs are three points behind leaders Al Hilal, who have 15 points.
The defeat ended the match with Al-Ittihad claiming the main talking point, while the club’s social media response added another layer to the rivalry. Its reference to “continued dominance” was a deliberate celebration of the victory and a pointed message to Felix, Postecoglou and Al Nassr after the 2-1 result.
Felix’s original remarks, meanwhile, ensured the match had already carried considerable attention before kick-off. His decision not to discuss what he believed was happening in the league, coupled with his warning that speaking could expose those issues, became a central part of the post-match reaction.
Al-Ittihad used that backdrop to frame its response, presenting its opponents as tiny figures in the image and making the club’s view of the result clear: from the perspective of Al-Ittihad, its superiority over Al Nassr had been maintained.
