Andorra goalkeeper could face 12-match ban after fatal Tenerife collision

Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Lazaro Uno could be suspended for between four and 12 matches after being sent off during the closing stages of the game against Tenerife at the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium.
The potential punishment follows a collision with Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel, who died on Tuesday after being taken to the emergency department at Nuestra Senora de Candelaria University Hospital.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee could apply Article 102 of its regulations when deciding on any sporting sanction.
The article covers violent conduct towards an opponent and states: “Any violent act against an opponent during a match which causes serious or harmful consequences, either by its nature or because of the resulting inactivity, provided that it does not constitute a more serious offence, will be punished with a suspension of between four and 12 matches.”
The incident occurred late in the match and left De Miguel unconscious on the pitch. Referee Manuel Angel Perez Hernandez sent both teams to their dressing rooms following the challenge, describing the seriousness of the situation in his official report.
Perez Hernandez also recorded that the match was stopped in the 96th minute “by mutual agreement between all parties”.
In a statement published on the Spanish Football Federation’s official website, the referee wrote: “The match was stopped in the 96th minute for medical treatment to be provided to the home team’s number 9. Given the seriousness of the situation and the absence of any improvement in the player’s condition, we withdrew to the dressing rooms.”
The sporting case will now be considered in light of the circumstances set out in the referee’s report, with Article 102 providing the legal basis for a possible suspension of Jesus Lazaro Uno.
The incident came during a Segunda Division fixture between Tenerife and Andorra. The competition’s schedule also lists Tenerife’s next match against Mallorca on 8 November 2026.
Separately, CD Badajoz are listed to play in the Copa del Rey on 4 November 2026.
