Anointed Chukwu makes Wingate FC return after Worthing departure
England and Nigeria centre-forward Anointed Chukwu has joined Wingate FC from Worthing on a free transfer, returning to the club where he previously played before beginning a spell across the National League system.
The 25-year-old London-born striker has signed for Wingate on 2 August 2026 after spending the previous season with Worthing. Chukwu made 76 appearances in the National League South during his career, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists, while also making one appearance in the National League North.
Chukwu initially joined Worthing from Enfield Town on a free transfer in July 2025. During the 2025-26 campaign, he spent part of the season on loan at Chippenham before returning to Worthing when that temporary move ended on 31 May 2026.
The forward first represented Wingate FC during the 2023-24 season, having moved there from Harrow Borough. He left the club for Welling United in July 2024 before continuing his career with Enfield Town and Worthing.
Standing at 1.93m and favouring his right foot, Chukwu has operated as a central striker throughout his senior career. His earlier clubs also include Grays Athletic, Cheshunt, Romford and East Thurrock, following his time with Salford Under-18s and Palace Under-18s.
Chukwu’s return gives Wingate a centre-forward with experience of non-league football at several levels. His career has included loan spells with Ramsbottom, Widnes and Chippenham, alongside free-transfer moves between a number of English clubs.
The move from Worthing to Wingate FC was completed as a free transfer on 2 August 2026.
