RB Leipzig consider Sunderland winger Shamsiddine Talbi as Yan Diomande replacement

RB Leipzig have begun exploring attacking options in the transfer market as they prepare for the expected departure of Ivorian forward Yan Diomande to Real Madrid.

Morocco international Shamsiddine Talbi is among the players attracting interest from the German club, according to Foot Mercato. No agreement has been reached, and there have been no discussions so far between RB Leipzig and Sunderland over a possible transfer.

Talbi, 21, currently plays for Sunderland and is under contract with the club until the summer of 2030. His long-term deal means any move would require negotiations between the two clubs, although those talks have not yet started.

The winger has made 10 international appearances for Morocco and is regarded by RB Leipzig as a player who could provide additional attacking options. Talbi scored four goals in 30 appearances for Sunderland last season.

His pace, ability to run at defenders and tactical flexibility are understood to be among the qualities that have placed him on RB Leipzig’s list of potential targets. Those attributes would allow him to operate in different attacking roles and give the club further alternatives in the final third.

The interest comes as RB Leipzig consider how to replace Diomande, whose anticipated move to Real Madrid is expected to leave a vacancy in their attack. Talbi is one of the names being assessed, but the club have yet to make contact with Sunderland regarding the Morocco international.

For now, Talbi remains a Sunderland player, with three years left on his current contract beyond this summer. Any formal approach from RB Leipzig would therefore be the next step if their interest develops into a concrete pursuit.

The report does not indicate that an offer has been made or that negotiations are under way. Instead, Talbi has emerged as a candidate in RB Leipzig’s early work to strengthen their forward line ahead of the expected change involving Diomande.
