Anthony Nwakaeme: Nigerian forward assist proves decisive in Trabzonspor’s victory

Former Nigeria international Anthony Nwakaeme provided a pinpoint assist in Trabzonspor’s 1-0 victory over Eyüpspor in the Turkish Super Lig encounter on Monday night.
The 35-year-old may have faded from the Super Eagles’ spotlight, but his brilliance continues to shine in the Turkish football.
As Trabzonspor dominated possession, they struggled to break down Eyüpspor’s defense in the opening stages of the contest.
However, Nwakaeme’s vision and precision proved to be the difference-maker as his assist in the 59th minute allowed John Lundstram to score the game’s only goal, securing a crucial victory for Trabzonspor.
The win propelled Trabzonspor to ninth place in the league standings with 29 points, and Nwakaeme’s contribution was his fourth goal involvement of the season.
Despite being a Turkish Lig Champion, Nwakaeme’s last appearance for the Super Eagles came in 2017. Nevertheless, his performances at Trabzonspor continue to demonstrate that he remains a force to be reckoned with at club level.
As the season unfolds, Nwakaeme will undoubtedly remain a key player for his team, and his contributions will be crucial in determining Trabzonspor’s fate in the Turkish Süper Lig.
