Barcelona injury concerns grow as Rodri forced off against Aston Villa

Barcelona suffered another injury concern during their Champions League meeting with Aston Villa at Camp Nou on Tuesday evening, with Rodri unable to continue after complaining of pain in his right calf.

The midfielder was substituted at half-time, with Marc Bernal taking his place. According to AS, Barcelona’s German manager made the change to prevent the problem from worsening, but the decision has increased concern within the coaching staff.

Rodri is the latest Barcelona player to be affected by the club’s growing injury problems. The full extent of his condition will not be known until he undergoes medical tests on Wednesday.

The timing has heightened the concern, with Barcelona due to face Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday. The fixture is listed for 08 November 2026, leaving the club with little time to assess whether Rodri will be available.

Given the approaching league match, Barcelona are expected to take a cautious approach while awaiting the results of the examinations.
