Barcelona set €10m asking price for Hector Fort as Real Sociedad enter transfer race

Barcelona are prepared to sell young defender Hector Fort this summer after telling the player he is no longer part of their plans for the new season, with Real Sociedad joining a growing list of clubs interested in signing him.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona are open to Fort leaving on a permanent deal rather than moving out on loan. The Catalan club have set an asking price of about €10m (£8.6m), meaning any prospective buyer will need to make an offer close to that figure to compete for the Spain Under-? defender. Fort’s future is expected to be settled in the coming days, with the player now set to sit out Barcelona’s preparations. His priority will be to find a project that can offer him a greater opportunity to play regularly.
Everton, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund had previously made enquiries about the position regarding the Spanish full-back. Real Sociedad have since joined the list of interested clubs after receiving positive reports on Fort during his loan spell at Elche.
Elche had hoped to keep the player, but that possibility now appears unlikely. Barcelona do not want to send Fort out on another temporary deal and instead remain committed to securing a permanent transfer.
The decision forms part of Barcelona’s wider efforts to reshape their squad before the transfer window closes. The club are seeking additional transfer income and greater room within their wage limits so they can register new players.
Fort’s situation, alongside that of Marc Casado, is regarded as one of the key cases Barcelona want to resolve before the deadline. Both matters are being handled as part of the club’s attempt to create more flexibility in the squad and its finances.
Real Sociedad’s interest gives Fort another possible destination within Spain, while Everton, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund have already assessed whether a move would be possible. Barcelona’s preference for a sale, combined with the €10m valuation, will determine whether any of those clubs decide to make a formal offer.
