Burna Boy headlines NFL Paris halftime show at Stade de France

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy performed at the 2026 NFL Paris halftime show during Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints at the Stade de France.

The Grammy-winning Afrofusion artist entertained the crowd with performances of some of his biggest songs, including Ye, On the Low and Last Last.

His set combined Afrobeat, reggae, dancehall and other musical influences, while his stage presence added to the spectacle at the iconic Paris venue. The performance also highlighted the increasingly global reach of African music.

Before taking to the stage, Burna Boy said he hoped the atmosphere would resemble the reception he had received during his previous concert at Stade de France.

“If it is anything like my shows, like the last time I was here? Then, it would be amazing,” he said.

Burna Boy’s growing sporting presence

The appearance continued the singer’s association with major international sporting events.

Burna Boy performed at the NBA All-Star Game and the UEFA Champions League final kickoff show in 2023, reaching audiences through two of the world’s most prominent sporting platforms.

He also performed alongside Colombian superstar Shakira at the inaugural FIFA World Cup halftime show in 2026.

His latest appearance came only weeks after fellow Nigerian singer Ayra Starr became the first artiste to headline an NFL halftime show. The two performances reflect the increasing prominence of Nigerian musicians at major international events.

Rise from Like to Party to global success

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy first rose to prominence with Like to Party, the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E, released in 2013.

He has since become one of Africa’s most successful musical exports, developing an international audience with his Afrofusion style and a series of acclaimed albums.

His discography includes L.I.F.E (2013), On a Spaceship (2015), Outside (2018), African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), I Told Them (2023) and No Sign of Weakness (2025).

Burna Boy has received 13 Grammy nominations, the most by a Nigerian artiste, and won the Best Global Music Album award in 2021 for Twice As Tall.

The NFL Paris performance added to his record of international appearances and provided another platform for Nigerian music as Afrobeats and Afrofusion continue to attract listeners around the world.
