Chiamaka Okwuchukwu is in contention for CAF Young Player of the year award

Nigeria U-20 women’s national team forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu made the shortlist for Young Player of the Year as far as the 2024 CAF Awards is concerned.

Okwuchukwu was part of the Falconets side, which reached the Round of 16 of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

She scored two goals in Nigeria’s four games at the tournament.

A goal each against Germany and Venezuela in the group stage of the competition ensured Nigeria’s place in the Round of 16.

The former U-17 player of Nigeria will battle with four other players for the CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

FC Masar goalkeeper Habiba Sabry, who emerged as the best goalkeeper at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, is amongst the players in contention for the award.

AS FAR forward, Doha El Madani, who won the top goal scorer award at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League with six goals, also made the shortlist.

Morocco’s Lina Mokhtar Jamar and South Africa’s Nthabiseng Majiya (Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies) complete the shortlisted players for the award.
