Uchenna Kanu: Super Falcons forward makes headline at 2024 Aba Fashion Week
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria’s senior women’s national team forward, Uchenna Kanu, is making headlines, but this time, not for her incredible goals.
At Aba Fashion Week 2024, she traded her boots for a bold, statement look, strutting down the runway for RIABANITM’s newest collection, “FreeForm.”
Just as she dominates the pitch with power and precision, Uchenna embodied grace and confidence on the runway, showcasing pieces that blend high fashion with personal expression.
The “FreeForm” collection represents more than just clothing. It is about owning your narrative and embracing your true self, much like Uchenna does in every match.
In this 2024/2025 collection, RIABANITM captured the spirit of individuality, offering avant-garde designs that speak to breaking limits-whether in sports or fashion.
Uchenna’s appearance on the runway perfectly exemplified the synergy between athleticism and style, proving that strength, beauty, and self-expression can coexist in the most empowering ways.
This was more than a runway moment. It was a celebration of how fashion can be a platform for self-confidence and freedom, things Uchenna Kanu lives by, both on and off the field.
On the field of play, Kanu scored five goals in 12 NWSL games for Racing Louisville in the United States of America (USA) before being sidelined due to injury.
Last season was her second for Racing Louisville since switching from Mexican side, UANL Tigres, for a record transfer.
She previously played for Sevilla FC (Spain) and Linkopings FC (Sweden), coupled with being a member of the Super Falcons squad for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
