Chidera Ejuke backs Kelechi Iheanacho to find form with Sevilla
By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke has offered his support to teammate Kelechi Iheanacho, who has faced challenges since his summer move to Sevilla from Leicester City.
The duo both joined Sevilla as free agents this summer, with Ejuke arriving from Antwerp, where he has quickly adjusted to life in Spain, becoming one of the top dribblers in Europe’s top five leagues.
He is currently ranked ahead of the likes of Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior for his dribbling performances.
In contrast, Iheanacho has struggled to find his rhythm at Sevilla, failing to score or provide an assist in his five appearances so far, starting three of those matches.
Despite growing impatience from fans, Ejuke remains confident in his teammate’s abilities and believes it’s only a matter of time before Iheanacho finds his form.
“Kelechi is a great guy. He’s a good player,” Ejuke told Marca.
“That’s why Victor Orta brought him to Sevilla. He’s a striker and he wants to score goals; he wants to help the team. He’s a good person who brings a lot of energy to the team.”
Ejuke’s support comes at a crucial time, as Sevilla will be hoping both Nigerian internationals can contribute significantly as the season progresses.
