In an exclusive statement to CSN, Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem has expressed confidence in Nantes’ ability to secure a UEFA Europa League spot as the Ligue 1 season progresses. Currently occupying the sixth position in the French Ligue 1 with 44 points from 30 games, Nantes is just one point behind fifth-placed Stade Rennes and 12 points adrift of fourth-placed Olympique Lyon.
With eight games remaining in the season, Awaziem is optimistic about Nantes’ prospects, stating, “We have eight games left to play, and there is a possibility that a lot can happen before the end of the season. I believe we can still get the UEFA Europa League qualification spot.”
Nantes is set to face Saint Etienne in a crucial fixture, and Awaziem’s aspirations for continental competition remain high.
Shifting focus to the recent performances of the Super Eagles in international friendlies against Poland and Serbia, Awaziem acknowledged the challenges faced by the team, particularly in the match against Serbia. He commented, “They were tough games, especially the game against Serbia, but I’m sure the games will make us better.”
Awaziem’s dual commitment to both club and country underscores his dedication to success, both at the domestic and international levels. As Nantes pursues a coveted Europa League position, Awaziem’s positive outlook and belief in the Super Eagles’ growth reflect a determined and resilient spirit on and off the field.
