Eberechi Eze hails Arsenal’s attacking threat after Champions League win over Lille

Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze says his team-mates’ creativity is making it an enjoyable environment to play in after their convincing 3-0 victory over LOSC Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
The England international scored Arsenal’s second goal as the Gunners produced another impressive European display, while Bukayo Saka made a decisive contribution after coming off the bench.
Eze doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 66th minute, finishing calmly after Saka created the chance with a well-timed pass. Saka then scored himself in the 71st minute to complete the victory, just seven minutes after being introduced.
“It’s a fun team to play in!” Eze said after the match.
“Opportunities are coming all over the place. You just have to be ready and be in the right spaces, the right places to get on the end of things.”
The midfielder’s comments reflected the attacking understanding developing within the Arsenal squad, with movement, combination play and decision-making helping to create openings from different areas of the pitch.
Eze said the number of creative players around him meant he needed to stay alert and position himself well to take advantage of the opportunities that arise.
Saka had an immediate influence following his introduction, contributing directly to two of Arsenal’s goals. He helped construct Eze’s strike by moving the ball across to his team-mate, who applied a composed finish to extend the home side’s advantage.
Five minutes later, Saka found the net himself, putting the result beyond Lille’s reach. His ability to affect the game within minutes of coming on underlined the importance of his attacking quality to Arsenal.
For Eze, the goal was another encouraging step as he continues to build his understanding with his team-mates. His technical ability, creativity and intelligent movement have made him a valuable option within Arsenal’s attacking setup.
The midfielder’s reaction also indicated the positive atmosphere inside the squad, with Arsenal’s players able to express themselves while contributing to the team’s collective success.
The result offered Arsenal another confidence boost in their Champions League campaign. For Eze, though, the satisfaction came not only from scoring but from being part of a side that repeatedly creates chances.
Against LOSC Lille, he was ready to take one of those opportunities.
