Franco Mastantuono joins Fiorentina on loan from Real Madrid

Franco Mastantuono has officially moved from Real Madrid to Fiorentina on loan, with the Argentina international set to begin a new challenge in Italy next season.

Fiorentina confirmed the signing in an official statement, saying it had secured the sporting rights to the 18-year-old from Real Madrid on a temporary basis. The Italian club described Mastantuono as a new addition to its squad after completing the agreement with the Spanish side.

Mastantuono was born in Azul, Argentina, on 14 August 2007. He began his youth career at River Plate before making his senior debut for the club at the age of 16.

The attacking player went on to make 64 appearances for River Plate, scoring 10 goals. His performances at the Argentine club eventually led to his move to Real Madrid, where he featured during the previous season across four competitions.

During that campaign, Mastantuono played 35 matches for Real Madrid in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. He scored three goals in those appearances.

Fiorentina’s announcement highlighted the player’s early international achievements as well as his club career. Mastantuono is the youngest player to make his debut for the Argentina senior national team, and he has represented the country on four occasions.

The midfielder’s loan move means he will now continue his development in Serie A after spending the previous season with Real Madrid. Fiorentina have secured his services from the Spanish club for the forthcoming campaign, giving the Argentina international the opportunity to start a fresh chapter in Italian football.

His progression has been rapid since his first-team breakthrough at River Plate. He made that senior debut while still 16 and established a record with Argentina by becoming the youngest player to appear for the national side.

Mastantuono’s record of 64 appearances and 10 goals for River Plate, followed by 35 matches and three goals for Real Madrid across domestic and European competitions, forms the background to Fiorentina’s decision to bring him to Italy.

The move was formally announced by Fiorentina, which confirmed both the player’s arrival from Real Madrid and the loan nature of the agreement. He will join the Italian club for the next season after his spell with the Spanish giants.

Fiorentina’s statement also set out the key details of Mastantuono’s career so far: his birthplace and date of birth, his rise through River Plate’s youth system, his early senior debut, his record with the Argentine club and his international appearances for Argentina.

The transfer therefore represents the latest stage in the career of one of Argentina’s youngest senior internationals, as Mastantuono prepares to continue his football in Italy after featuring for Real Madrid in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
