“It’s very unfortunate” – Maikaba reacts to Wikki Tourists’ defeat to Gombe United

By Wale Mustapha
Wikki Tourists’ Technical Adviser, Abdu Maikaba, has expressed his disappointment following his team’s 2-1 loss to Gombe United in their Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday Six encounter on Sunday at Pantami Stadium.
Despite an early goal from Haruna Aliyu, which put the Bauchi Elephants ahead, Gombe United fought back with goals from Shedrack Anthony and Hassan Abubakar to secure the win.
Maikaba admitted that the defeat was particularly frustrating, as his team had been in control for much of the match.
“It’s very unfortunate to lose after leading for most of the game,” Maikaba said in a post-match interview.
“We’ll analyze this match carefully to make the necessary corrections ahead of our next fixture.”
The Wikki Tourists coach highlighted his team’s lackluster second-half performance and assured that improvements would be made as they look to bounce back in their next league game.
Wikki Tourists will host Sokoto United in their next league match, where Maikaba hopes to see a more resilient performance from his players.
