Iwobi strike ends Fulham’s Premier League winless run against Hull City

Alex Iwobi says Fulham can revive their season after his first-half goal secured a 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Nigeria international produced the decisive moment to give Fulham their first Premier League win of the season and bring an end to their run without victory.

Iwobi said the result had been overdue, with Fulham’s performances often failing to receive the reward they deserved.

“The win was a long time coming. We have performed well even though the results spoke otherwise,” Iwobi told Fulham TV.

The midfielder urged his team-mates to use the victory as a platform for the matches ahead, saying manager’s instructions had been to remain patient and continue working.

“The manager has asked us to keep going, and hopefully the luck will go our way. It has now started, so we just have to kick on and use this momentum for the rest of the season.”

Fulham’s win came despite Iwobi’s belief that they should have made greater use of the opportunities they created against Hull City.

He acknowledged that the team’s finishing remained an area for improvement, although he felt their overall display was strong enough to justify the victory.

“It was a convincing performance, even though the criticism, even for me, is that we could have scored more goals,” Iwobi added.

The 1-0 scoreline meant Fulham had to rely on their defensive work after taking the lead. Iwobi said maintaining that level of organisation could be key to collecting more victories.

“As long as we’re creating the opportunities, we will score more goals.”

“If we’re able to keep clean sheets like we did against Hull City, it will give us a chance to win games.”
