Lagos State Football Association poise to resurrect beach soccer with association formation

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In a bid to put Lagos as the powerhouse of beach soccer, the Lagos State Football Association has set up its beach soccer association.

The State FA Chairman Hajji Gafar Liameed at the FA Secretariat in Surulere, set up a beach football association to champion the rebirth of the game in the state on Saturday.

The Lagos State Beach Soccer Association (LSBSA) has renowned football administrator Chief Godson Uti as chairman.

Chief Uti, in his speech, appreciated the idea to set up the association, which he described as noble.

“This is a laudable move and I tell you, it’s long overdue. Lagos State used to be the hub and center for beach soccer in Nigeria.”

He went ahead to state that his association would work assiduously to ensure that beach soccer returns to Lagos in a big way.

Other members of the Lagos State Beach Soccer Association (LSBSA) include Mojeed Adegbidin, Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, Bayo Akande, Shade Johnson, and Vianney Rotimi.

Since the state last hosted the Copa Lagos in 2019 and the participation of the state teams like Igbogbo BSC, Badagry BSC, and Smart City BSC in the Nigeria Beach Soccer League about three years ago, there has been little or no impact on the game in Lagos state.
