Milan ready to revive Endrick interest in January after summer setback

Milan are preparing to reopen talks for Real Madrid forward Endrick in January after failing to secure a deal for the Brazil international during the summer transfer window.

The Italian club had identified the 2006-born striker as a major attacking target and could now pursue a loan move with an option to buy. Any agreement is expected to depend heavily on how often, and when, Jose Mourinho uses Endrick during the opening part of the season.

Ruben Amorim is preparing for his first major test as Milan manager against Juventus, but the former coach did not avoid questions about the transfer market at his pre-match news conference.

He said he was working closely with Gerry Cardinale and Calvelli to identify the squad’s needs and insisted the club’s decision-making process was based on collective agreement.

“I speak with Cardinale and Calvelli every day, so it is natural for me to have them around. I am very happy with the transfer window. We have new players of very high quality who will help us during the season and in the future. That is our objective. I also want to clarify how Milan works: everyone must agree on the players we want to sign,” said Amorim.

Milan secured the signing of Goncalo Ramos three days before the summer window opened. The Portugal striker quickly received the backing of all parties at the club and was established as the first-choice option in the centre-forward position.

The fixed fee for Ramos was €70m, a commitment which prevented Milan from completing the permanent signing of another striker during the summer.

The club’s decision also fits with its wider strategy of developing young players. Milan renewed Camarda’s contract until 30 June 2031, with an option to extend it by a further year until 2032, before promoting him as Ramos’ only recognised deputy.

That arrangement is expected to remain in place until at least January. At that point, a working group within the club will conduct a full review, using the data gathered during the first four months of the season.

Milan had already spent at least two weeks working on a significant attacking addition, with Endrick emerging as the preferred target. Cardinale discussed the proposed move directly with Real Madrid officials, but Mourinho rejected the possibility of allowing the former Palmeiras player to leave on loan.

According to Calciomercato, that decision disappointed both Milan and Roma, who had also considered Endrick an attractive option.

Endrick has yet to play for Real Madrid as he continues his recovery from injury. Milan nevertheless hope to revisit the possibility of bringing him to San Siro in January on loan, potentially with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Calciomercato reports that Cardinale, Amorim and the club’s working group will make another attempt to sign the Brazilian, regardless of the outcome of their earlier approach.

Milan believe Endrick could operate as a centre-forward or play behind Ramos in a deeper attacking role. His potential arrival would represent the clearest example yet of the club’s policy of reopening deals that previously fell through.

The club considers its project to build a team capable of competing for, and winning, major honours to be only at the beginning. Corriere dello Sport has also reported that Roma regard Endrick as a player worth considering as they plan future reinforcements for their attack.
