Shooting Stars offered ₦10,000 for every goal against CS Sfaxien

Shooting Stars have been promised a ₦10,000 reward for every goal they score against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round first leg.

The incentive was announced by Comrade Isaac Olawale Ifadare Ayangbile, vice-chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, ahead of the fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The match is scheduled to begin at 16:00 on Saturday, 5 September 2026, with Shooting Stars aiming to establish a strong advantage before the return leg in Tunis next week.

Ayangbile said the promise was designed to encourage the players to be more productive in front of goal and give the Oluyole Warriors the best possible start to their continental campaign.

“Every goal counts. One goal in favour of Shooting Stars attracts ₦10,000,” Ayangbile declared.

The players will hope to respond by producing a decisive attacking display against CS Sfaxien. A convincing home victory would give the Nigerian side greater confidence before travelling to Tunisia for the second leg.

Shooting Stars are one of Nigeria’s two representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup and are returning to continental football after a lengthy absence. Their last appearance in a CAF competition came in 1999, when they competed in the CAF Champions League.

They reached the mini-league group stage that year and were placed in Group A alongside Raja Club Athletic of Morocco, Al Ahly SC of Egypt and Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. of Ghana.

The Nigerian club finished bottom of the group with four points and were eliminated. Raja Club Athletic and Al Ahly progressed to the knockout phase.

Their meeting with CS Sfaxien marks Shooting Stars’ return to the major African stage 27 years after that campaign. The club will now look to turn the support from the Oyo State Football Association into goals and a result that can strengthen their hopes of progressing in the competition.

Playing at home in the first leg gives the Oluyole Warriors an opportunity to take control of the tie, although they will also be aware that the decisive second match will be played in Tunis next week. The financial incentive adds an extra focus to their attacking efforts as they seek to put themselves in a favourable position before the away fixture.
