Mourinho leaps from Real Madrid bench after Mbappe’s late El Clasico goal

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Spotify Camp Nou in the 10th round of La Liga, with Kylian Mbappe’s 87th-minute goal prompting an animated celebration from the Madrid substitutes’ bench.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Jose Mourinho was at the centre of the celebrations after Mbappe scored Real Madrid’s second goal. The Portuguese manager jumped up and made a series of expressive gestures as he reacted to the decisive moment.

Mourinho’s involvement had also been evident earlier in the match. The newspaper reported that he left the technical area several times to protest against refereeing decisions, with his first departure coming 10 minutes after kick-off.

The manager and his assistants subsequently approached the referee on a number of occasions to object to decisions. Their reactions led to several exchanges with members of Barcelona’s substitutes’ bench.

DAZN Espana shared footage of Mourinho’s response on social media alongside the caption: “ON HIS KNEES AND WITH HIS TONGUE OUT 💥 MOURINHO BEING MOURINHO. His celebration of Real Madrid’s 1-2 at Camp Nou.”

The post was published on 25 October 2026, the same date as another post from DAZN Futbol referring to the manager’s continued animated presence during the match.

That caption read: “13 YEARS LATER. SAME JOSE MOURINHO.”
