Nigeria U15 rescue unbeaten run with last-kick equaliser against Jordan

Nigeria’s Future Eagles scored with the final kick of the match to draw 2-2 with Jordan and remain unbeaten at the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival.
The result was Nigeria’s second successive draw in the competition, following their 3-3 game against South Sudan on Saturday.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said the teams were level at half-time after a goalless opening period, before the match produced four goals after the interval.
Captain Timothy Ogar put Nigeria ahead in the second half, but Jordan equalised five minutes later.
Jordan then scored again to take the lead and leave Patrick Bassey’s team at risk of suffering their first defeat of the tournament.
Abdulrazak Muftau prevented that outcome by scoring with the last kick of the game, securing a point for Nigeria and extending their unbeaten start.
Nigeria have now scored five goals and conceded five in their opening two matches.
The Future Eagles are due to face fellow West African side The Gambia later on Sunday in their next Group AD fixture.
They will then play Cyprus and Pakistan on Monday, 26 October, as the group stage continues.
The inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival is being contested in an eight-a-side format, with each match comprising two 20-minute halves.
Results in the opening stage will determine which subsequent tier each team enters. The next phase is scheduled for 28 and 29 October, with the tier finals to be played on 30 October.
Nigeria will be looking to convert their two draws into wins as they attempt to finish the group stage strongly.
