Enugu Rangers’ Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, expressed his joy after his team secured a 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars, extending their unbeaten streak to eight games in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Godwin Obaje’s first-half penalty and Kingsley Maduforo’s brilliant finish gave the Flying Antelopes a commanding lead. Despite Samuel Tiza’s goal for Lobi Stars in the 65th minute, Rangers held on to secure the win amidst tense moments.

The packed Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu witnessed the triumph, leaving Ilechukwu visibly elated. He praised both teams for their efforts but emphasized his satisfaction with Rangers’ gradual improvement.

“It was a great fight from both sides, but we did our best, which I believe earned us the victory we worked for, and we thank God for that,” said Ilechukwu.

“It was a high-pressure game against one of the best teams in Nigeria, and considering their position on the log, it shows that Rangers are coming up gradually, and I am very happy about this win.”

Acknowledging the pressure of facing a formidable opponent like Lobi Stars, Ilechukwu expressed his happiness with the win, highlighting Rangers’ steady progress towards the desired standard.

With 45 points from 26 games, Rangers are just one point behind leaders Lobi Stars. Their next challenge will be an ‘Oriental Derby’ clash against Heartland at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
