NPFL: Gbenga Ogunbote laments team’s wasteful loss in Remo

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

  • The Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Sport Club (3SC), Gbenga Ogunbote, has lamented his team’s wastefulness after a 2-0 loss to Remo Stars on Matchday 14 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Goals from former player Sikiru Alimi and Olamilekan Adedayo ensured that Oluyole Warriors returned to Ibadan without a point.

Ogunbote lamented the loss of another derby, saying. “It is unfortunate we lost the game. We were looking at getting it right on the road, yet another derby, we couldn’t get it right

“We will keep fighting until we get it right. But the important thing is that the boys had a good fight. We were a little bit wasteful. Ordinarily, we would have been two goals up in the first half”, stated the Oracle.

The former Sunshine Stars and Enyimba FC handler, also blamed the loss on loss of concentration, which resulted in the second goal, saying. “The second goal was uncalled for; we needed not to have conceded that; we had a careless moment there.

“Even after the second goal, we were determined to fight till the end but Nigerian league is difficult playing with one man short. If we can play this much with one man short, I think when we have a complete team, we should be able to do better,” added the ex-Remo Stars and Rangers International tactician.

The team occupy the 10th position on the log with 18 points after 14 games.

Remo Stars, on the other hand, returned to the top of the table with 26 points, the same as Rivers United and three points ahead of Rangers International.
