NWFL Premiership MD 13 wrap: Nasarawa Amazons end Edo Queens unbeaten record as Naija Ratels take Playoffs spot down the wire

After 12 games without a loss, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions finally tasted defeat at the end of matchday 13 in Lafia.
With the Playoffs spot sealed, Moses Aduku’s side approached the penultimate match with Etim Sunday, Marvelous Akpobaro, Rebecca Adegbemile, Mary Mamudu, Emem Essien, Saidat Adebiyi, and Vincent Precious starting from the bench.
Morufat Ademola, Deborah Odiagbe, Happiness Titus, Miracle Usani, Valentina Uroko, Kafaya Mafisere, Chioma Moses, Amarachi Odomoa, Anjor Mary, Esther Inyang, and Goodness Osigwe started for the Benin Arsenals.
Coach Christopher Danjuma has starters shirts for Udoka Unachukwu, Jumoke Alani, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, Joy Igbokwe, Sikiratu Isah, Esther Adesoji, Ojiyovwi Kesiena, Yina Adoo, Janet Akekeromowei, Ayowunmi Omosuyi, and Amina Bello.
Akekeromowei’s 89th-minute goal separated both sides, ending Edo Queens in an invincible run of 12 games.
The win moved the Solid Babes to second position in Group A with 28 points, four behind their opponents and two better than Remo Stars Ladies which will complete their clash against Abia Angels on Thursday.
In Anyigba, Hannah Yusuf’s 57th-minute strike ensured that Confluence Queens secured their second win of the campaign over Ekiti Queens in their bid to survive relegation.
In Lagos, Dannaz Ladies also brighten their survival quest sealing their second win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory against Heartland Queens.
Ulumma Korie scored a late goal in the 86th minute to propel the Cedars to victory.
In the South-South derby, Bayelsa Queens edged Rivers Angels 1-0 to make them the only unbeaten team in the league this season.
Alaba Obabiyi’s third-minute strike gave the Prosperity Girls their 10th win of the season, cementing their leadership position in Group B with a game to spare.
In Asaba, Naija Ratels moved to the third position replacing FC Robo Queens after a 2-0 win over Delta Queens.
Sofiat Bankole and Rita Tsebee scored in either half to propel the Abuja-based side to victory.
In Uyo, FC Robo Queens faltered in their quest to make the Playoffs party as Ibom Angels pipped the Lagos Landladies 1-0 thanks to Uwah Abasiofon’s 37th-minute goal.
In Lafia, Benue Queens played out a 2-2 draw with Adamawa Queens after going behind twice to the visitors with goals from Omon Afensimi and Josephine Dzer.
Two second-half penalties by Joy Ikyagh and Anastasia Emefo ensured that the league debutant took their survival hope to the last game of the regular season.
