Remo Stars midfielder, Jide Fatokun, has completed a transfer to top Sudanese side, Al Merrikh Sports Club, as reported by Nigeriafootball.ng.
Fatokun, who is a key member of Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team, has signed a two-year contract with the Sudanese powerhouse.
The 26-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and will be departing Nigeria in the coming days to finalize his move to Al Merrikh.
The talented midfielder was part of the Super Eagles B squad that secured qualification for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), featuring in both legs of the qualifiers against the Black Galaxies of Ghana.
Fatokun’s arrival at Al Merrikh increases the presence of Nigerian players at the club, as he joins goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke, who is already a regular member of the team.
Currently, Al Merrikh is playing its league matches in the Mauritania league due to ongoing political unrest in Sudan. The club is currently sitting in 11th place in the league standings with 19 points from 14 games.
They will host Tevragh-Zeina in their final match of the first round on Wednesday.
