Onuachu scores early but suffers injury in Trabzonspor’s win over KuPS

Paul Onuachu scored inside three minutes before being forced off with a groin injury as Trabzonspor began their UEFA Conference League campaign with an away victory against KuPS Kuopio in Finland.

The Nigerian striker started the match and put Trabzonspor ahead after receiving a superb pass from Salah. However, his involvement was cut short after he was injured while attempting to take advantage of another scoring opportunity.

Onuachu initially tried to remain on the pitch, but was unable to continue. He was replaced by Franculino Dju in the ninth minute.

The forward’s condition will now be monitored ahead of Trabzonspor’s crucial Turkish Super Lig derby against Besiktas on Monday.

The injury has tempered Trabzonspor’s satisfaction at securing victory in their opening Conference League match, with the club facing uncertainty over whether Onuachu will recover in time to feature in the derby.
