Promise David: Stuttgart eye move for Canada-Nigeria striker from Union SG

Canada-Nigeria forward Promise David of Union Saint-Gilloise is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart, with the German club exploring a deal for the 25-year-old centre-forward. The interest comes despite David being under contract with the Belgian champions until 30 June 2029, meaning Union SG are in a strong position in any negotiations.

The rumoured transfer, carrying an estimated 35% likelihood at this stage, would see Stuttgart move for a player whose valuation has risen sharply over the past two seasons to around €17 million. David has emerged as a key attacking figure for Union SG, operating primarily as a central striker and offering a significant physical presence at 1.95m with a right-footed profile.

David only joined Union SG from Estonian side Kalju FC in July 2024, when the Brussels club paid a reported €600,000 fee after his prolific spell in the Premium Liiga. Since arriving in Belgium he has delivered consistently in front of goal, scoring regularly in the Jupiler Pro League and contributing in European competition, including appearances and goals in the Champions League.

His impact has coincided with a hugely successful period for Union SG, who secured the Belgian title in the 2024-25 season and added both the domestic cup and Super Cup to complete a domestic treble. Any move to Stuttgart would therefore require a compelling offer to tempt Union SG into selling a player tied down on a long-term deal and central to their recent success.
