Real Madrid €100m bid for RB Leipzig winger Ousmane Diomande rejected as PSG circle

Real Madrid have had a €100m offer for RB Leipzig winger Ousmane Diomande turned down, with Paris Saint-Germain stepping up their efforts to sign the Ivory Coast international this summer.

Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Real Madrid submitted a formal proposal to Leipzig this week worth a total of €100m for the 19-year-old.

The bid was structured as €90m guaranteed, plus a further €10m in bonuses and performance-related add-ons.

However, according to Romano, Leipzig rejected the approach and are holding out for a fee in excess of €100m before agreeing to sell the Ivory Coast winger, while talks between the two clubs are understood to be ongoing as they search for common ground.

PSG remain in the race

Romano also stated that Paris Saint-Germain remain firmly in contention for Diomande’s signature and have been in negotiations with Leipzig for several weeks.

Despite the prolonged discussions, the French champions and the Bundesliga club have yet to find an agreement on the terms of a transfer.

German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday that Diomande has already reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain over a contract running until 2031.

At this stage, though, “PSG” have not submitted an official bid to Leipzig, leaving Real Madrid as the only club to have tabled a concrete offer so far in the current transfer window.

Liverpool bid previously rejected

Leipzig’s stance over Diomande is not new. Earlier in the window, the German club also turned down a €100m proposal from Liverpool for the Ivory Coast international.

No agreement was reached with the Premier League side, with Leipzig again insisting on a higher fee to part with one of their most coveted young players.

Diomande, 19, has attracted interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs following his performances for Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and his situation has developed into a three-way battle involving Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.

While Liverpool appear to have been pushed back after their offer was rejected, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are now leading the race, with one club having made an official bid and the other understood to have secured personal terms with the player.

Leipzig, however, retain the final say and are so far refusing to drop their valuation, meaning Diomande’s future remains unresolved as negotiations continue on multiple fronts.
