Mohamed Salah to Besiktas: Agent cuts commission demands in major boost to transfer talks

Turkish reports say Besiktas’ bid to sign Liverpool and Egypt captain Mohamed Salah has moved a significant step forward after his agent agreed to lower his commission demands.

Previous coverage in Turkey had suggested negotiations stalled when Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, requested a €7.5m commission fee, slowing progress between the two parties.

However, respected Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported on X that Abbas has now reduced his financial demands over that commission, which had been set at €7.5m.

According to Sabuncuoglu, the revised figure is now much closer to the amount offered by Besiktas president Serdal Adali, bringing the two sides notably nearer to a final agreement.

Besiktas step up pursuit

Besiktas are continuing to intensify their efforts to complete the deal in the coming days, with the move viewed in Turkey as potentially one of the most high-profile signings in the history of the Turkish Super Lig if it is finalised and officially announced.

The development follows weeks of sustained contact between the Istanbul club’s hierarchy and Salah’s representatives.

Besiktas are understood to regard the signing of Salah as their top priority as they look to strengthen their squad for the new season.

Club officials are now focused on closing the remaining gap in negotiations after the apparent breakthrough over the commission issue, amid growing optimism in Turkey that an agreement can be reached.

Background to talks

Salah, the captain of Egypt and a key figure at Liverpool, has been at the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with Besiktas emerging as one of the clubs most determined to secure his signature.

The Turkish side’s pursuit has been driven directly by president Adali, whose latest proposal on the agent’s fee is now said to be broadly in line with Abbas’s revised expectations.

While no final deal has been confirmed and no contract details have been disclosed, the softening of the agent’s stance on commission is being seen in Turkey as a crucial step towards any potential transfer.

Negotiations between Besiktas and Salah’s camp are expected to continue at pace, with all parties aiming to reach a definitive outcome ahead of the new campaign.
