Real Madrid sign Ivorian winger Yan Diomande on contract until 2033

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, with the player agreeing a long-term contract that runs until the summer of 2033.

The Spanish club confirmed the deal on Thursday evening in a statement published on its official website, announcing that an agreement had been reached with RB Leipzig for the transfer of the 19-year-old.

The move brings an end to negotiations that lasted longer than expected. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Real Madrid will pay more than 120m euros for Diomande after talks were delayed by a dispute involving the player’s current and former agents.

The fixed value of the transfer is understood to be 125m euros. A further 10m euros could be paid in bonuses considered relatively easy to achieve, while an additional 5m euros is linked to more difficult performance-related conditions. Leganes will also receive 5% of the fixed transfer fee.

Diomande’s arrival represents a major investment in a player who has limited senior-level experience but is regarded by Real Madrid as one of the most promising attacking talents available in the transfer market.

He has made 46 official appearances in top-flight football. Ten of those came during his time with Leganes, while the remaining 36 were recorded for RB Leipzig. His appearances for the German club include 33 Bundesliga matches and three games in the German Cup.

The forward has also won 13 international caps for Ivory Coast. Including those matches, Diomande has played 59 times at senior level for club and country.

Real Madrid believe that record provides enough evidence of the qualities needed to develop into an elite attacker. His ability to operate on either flank was also a key factor in the club’s decision to complete the signing.

The Ivorian can play on both the right and left sides of the attack, giving manager Jose Mourinho greater flexibility when selecting and shaping his forward line. That versatility is expected to offer Real Madrid more ways to create an attack that is aggressive, dynamic and difficult for opponents to predict.

The agreement ends a protracted transfer process that had threatened to overshadow the expected announcement. Despite the delay, Real Madrid ultimately secured Diomande’s signature on a deal that ties him to the club for the next seven seasons.

The transfer reflects the club’s confidence that his potential can develop into a long-term asset. With experience in the Bundesliga, the German Cup and international football already on his record, Diomande now begins the next stage of his career at Real Madrid under a contract lasting through June 2033.
