Burna Boy, Shakira Unite for Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Anthem ‘Dai Dai’

Burna Boy and Shakira have joined forces for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, titled Dai Dai. The highly anticipated track is set for release on May 14 ahead of the global football tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by United States, Mexico and Canada, marking the first edition of the competition to feature 48 teams.
Shakira revealed the collaboration through her social media pages, posting a teaser video shot at the famous Maracanã Stadium. The announcement quickly sparked excitement among football and music fans, with many expecting another iconic World Cup anthem from the Latin pop star.
The project represents another major achievement in Burna Boy’s global rise, as he becomes one of the few Nigerian musicians to feature on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack. Fellow Afrobeats star Davido previously featured on Hayya Hayya (Better Together), one of the official songs for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Shakira has long been associated with FIFA World Cup music, most notably through her 2010 hit Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), released for the tournament hosted in South Africa. She also contributed songs connected to the 2006 and 2014 editions of the competition.
Early teaser clips suggest that Dai Dai combines Afrobeats rhythms with Latin pop sounds, featuring lyrics in both English and Spanish.
The upcoming World Cup tournament will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across several cities in North America, and is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events in history due to its expanded format.
Nigerian artists have continued to gain visibility on football’s global stage in recent years. Burna Boy performed at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul, while Tems appeared at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. Davido also participated in activities surrounding the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
With Burna Boy’s involvement in Dai Dai, Afrobeats is once again poised to take centre stage at one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
